Experiences of Outreach During the Pandemic: NERUPI Uni Connect Collaborative Project

Online (Microsoft Teams), 10am start

The findings from this new, collaborative research into the effects of Covid-19 on students' attitudes to their future and higher education will be of interest to all those engaged in university outreach. The analysis will be reported and this will be followed by an in-depth discussion about the implications for planning, delivering and evaluating outreach which will be incorporated in to the final recommendations.

Experiences of Outreach during the Pandemic

This event gave participants the opportunity to hear about the findings from the NERUPI UniConnect collaborative research project which aimed to gain an understanding of the effect of Covid-19 students attitudes to the future, their perspectives on higher education and the factors which might affect their progression in education. Participants explored the implications for outreach with other practitioners and contributed to the formulation of the report recommendations.

During this half day morning session we considered the pros and cons of the self-assessment tool and explored how this together with the NERUPI Framework can be used to achieve a powerful approach to evaluation and continuous improvement.

Mature Students and Higher Education: Challenges and Opportunities

After many years of decline in the number of mature undergraduates, the value of participation in higher education for individuals, society and the economy has been recognised by policy makers. This event will outline some of the factors that have led to the decline in mature students, set out the recent changes in policy designed to address the issue and explore how evaluation and research can support the institutional change required to attract older learners.
