There is a call for greater rigour and transparency in evaluation for widening participation and equity initiatives but external scrutiny does not automatically translate into better practice. Effective evaluation, with a focus on organisational improvement, can support the development of strategies to improve student experience and increase access for under-represented groups.

This course was developed for those involved in leading or undertaking evaluation of access and participation initiatives in higher education. Designed for busy professionals the course combines continuing professional development for evaluators with an institutional Peer Review process. In this way both individuals and organisations benefit from the process.

Working with a small group of colleagues the course combines collaborative learning with the Peer Review process through a combination of in-person workshops, online sessions, a residential and practical pair work. Each participant completes the course with a Peer Review of their own institution’s practice, including a strategy for improvement. Applicants and fees

We are taking expressions of interest for this course which is designed for those with relevant experience of evaluating equity initiative and are working in higher education. Please submit an Expression of Interest Form by January 30th 2027.

The cost for 2026 is £1050 for NERUPI and QAA members - a saving of £500 as the fee for non-members is is £1,550 per person.

Please note that we will require:

• a refundable deposit of £500 by 30 January to secure your place
• the balance will be due on 26 February - £550 for NERUPI & QAA members and £1050 for others
• For NERUPI members booking and paying a deposit of £445 before 30 September 2026 we are holding last year's price of £995.

The fee includes two nights accommodation in student halls of residence at the University of Bath during the residential and meals and refreshments at in-person sessions.
