Mature and Commuter Students

Mature students and commuter students are both considered to be among the student characteristics that are most likely to indicate risks to equality of opportunity, and as such are included in the Office for Students (OfS) Education Equality of Opportunity Risk Register (EORR). This online NERUPI session is an opportunity to consider how universities can support access to and successful participation in undergraduate provision for these student groups.

Transition to Higher Education: From widening access to student success

The transition from school or college to becoming an undergraduate is challenging for all students. For those who have been underserved by education and come from marginalised communities the higher education environment can feel quite alien. In this session Marva de la Coudray, Director of Centre for Teaching Enhancement and Director for the Centre for Equity & Inclusion will consider some of the challenges that increasing the diversity of the student population presents and explore strategies for transforming higher education to improve the experience for all students.

Enhancements to the Standards of Evidence for Access and Participation Plans: Report Launch

The Enhancements to the Standards of Evidence for Access and Participation Plans project was a collaboration between NERUPI members, funded by the UKRI Policy Support Fund. The report launch is an opportunity to hear about how the OfS’s Standards of Evaluation Evidence have been operationalised in a diverse group of institutions, and to contribute to the recommendations resulting for Access and Participation policy makers and practitioners.
