In this Creative HE Working Group session Charlotte Godfrey, Emerge Studio Manager will describe Bath Spa University's innovative Emerge initiative which offers a studio residency programme for alumni and local community artists. Emerge aims to improve graduate outcomes and wellbeing in the longer term, as well as giving professional agency and improving professional sustainability. Partnership working has opened this unique experience to the wider community supporting the local economy which in turn positively impacts graduate retention within the region.

Charlotte Godfrey, Emerge Studio Manager, Bath Spa University

Charlotte Godfrey is the founder of Emerge Studios at Bath Spa University. With a background in broadcasting and the creative industries, she has worked as both a Production Manager and Creative Producer. She joined Bath Spa University’s Careers and Employability team in 2019, where she developed an enterprise and self-employment support programme for students and graduates.

Drawing on her experience as a freelancer, Charlotte specialises in supporting creative practitioners through placemaking, collaboration, and community-building. She brings a range of practical methodologies for helping emerging creatives establish sustainable, professional careers within the creative industries.
