This presentation explores the experiences of racialised students across the higher education student lifecycle, drawing on sector evidence, lived experience, and practice-based insight. Using a Biopsychosocial Critical Race Health Resilience (BCRHR) framework, the talk examines how structural racism shapes belonging, attainment, wellbeing, and progression, while also highlighting what works in practice to support equity and inclusion. The session will invite participants to move from awareness to action by reflecting on institutional responsibility and identifying practical changes that can improve outcomes for racialised students.

Mary Mosoeunyane, Bucks New University

Mary is a Senior Lecturer, Programme Lead, Race Equality (REN) Chair where her work centres on decolonising the curriculum and inclusive pedagogy. Mary is also a PhD researcher at UCL, with over 20 years’ experience in health science education. Her research and leadership focuses on racial equity, inclusive education, resilience, and improving the experiences of racialised students and staff across higher education and the NHS. Her doctoral research explores racial discrimination within the NHS, focusing on the lived experiences of Black healthcare professionals during the Covid-19 pandemic, using a Biopsychosocial Critical Race Health Resilience (BCRHR) framework. Mary's approach bridges research, practice, and leadership, with a strong commitment institutional change.
