Transition to Higher Education: From widening access to student success

Date: 20th November 2025

Location: Online, 14.00-15.30

Please note this event is for Members only

The transition from school or college to becoming an undergraduate is challenging for all students. For those who have been underserved by education and come from marginalised communities the higher education environment can feel quite alien. Intimidating support systems and misrecognition about academic capacities can compound feelings of isolation and difference. Increasingly, HEIs are recognising that their systems, curricula and pedagogies need to change. In this session Marva will consider some of the challenges that increasing the diversity of the student population presents and explore strategies for transforming higher education to improve the experience for all students.
