This talk will explore Ravensbourne’s differentiated approach to employability, designed to ensure all students, regardless of background, circumstance or confidence level, can access meaningful industry experiences.

Sherri Ellis, Head of Employability and Curriculum Enhancement at Ravensbourne University London will share the development and delivery of the university’s Work Based Learning (WBL) programme, now embedded across more than 25 creative, media, business and technology courses. The session will unpack the inclusive frameworks, scaffolded pathways, and targeted interventions that support wide participation and equitable access to professional practice. Through evidence-informed design and industry collaboration, Ravensbourne’s model empowers under-represented learners, strengthens progression outcomes, and builds employability as a shared institutional responsibility.

Sherri Ellis is a dedicated and forward-thinking education professional with over 15 years’ experience leading academic practice and development across Higher and Further Education. In her role as Head of Employability and Curriculum Enhancement at Ravensbourne University London, she drives the institution’s employability and progression strategy, working with industry partners to expand real-world learning opportunities for a diverse cohort of over 5,000 students. A passionate advocate for access, equity and inclusion, Sherri champions social design and inclusive pedagogies to ensure equitable experiences and outcomes for under-represented learners. Her work is grounded in evidence-informed decision making, collaborative leadership, and a commitment to progressive, student-centred education.
